An Engagement Session with Claire & Adam

I had such a great time photographing Claire and Adam last weekend for their engagement session all around Kansas City.  We began at Loose Park with the vibrant fall leaves as our beautiful backdrop.  Adam and Claire are an active couple who love biking and running together and will oftentimes run around the park.  Claire also reminisced of times she and her family would visit Loose Park when she was young... it just seemed fitting that we would start our session at this well loved location.

We then moved to the Nelson Atkins Art Museum and took advantage of their peaceful setting and larger than life stairs that lead up to the ornate front doors.  As the sun began to set on this warm fall day, we ventured to the Liberty Memorial to catch the suns' last rays over the city scape.  Adam and Claire both have a heart to serve the city, so this was the perfect end to our session.

Claire and Adam's playful side peaked out between the warm hearted smiles and it was easy to tell these two are well on their way to years of a truly blessed marriage.

Congrats Adam & Claire!

Jared & Faith's Wedding- A Celebration of Love, Family & Creativity

When Faith described her wedding day to me, I was in heaven.  This creative bride was planning a simple, yet breathtaking backdrop of a forest in the evening lit by strings of soft lights for the ceremony.  Family and friends would then move to a large white tent for the reception.  I quickly caught Faith's vision and couldn't wait to see the finished result.

If there's anything I learned about Faith and Jared, it's their ability to be completely flexible and still have  fun in the process.  Severe storms threatened to disturb their plans and a day before the wedding, the families pulled together to create an indoor forest.  Yes, Faith's dad cut down trees and lined the walls of the gym at the camp that he and his wife, Pam, give their hearts in complete service.  It was beautiful.

Stepping into this room where the entire wedding would be taking place, I saw the most amazing attention to detail and a room that appeared to be their Plan A from the beginning.  Faith and her mom and sister had hand made all of the flowers out of old hymnals (talk about creative)!  The branches and hundreds of candles added to the feeling of being outdoors in the romantic setting they had originally intended.

Faith and Jared's laid back personalities made it easy for them to move from one part of the day to the next despite the rain, and their smiles and overflowing love for each other was just the sunshine needed to make this day a perfect and memorable wedding day!

The girls got ready at a Frank Lloyd Wright house, owned by family friends, that offered scenic views and plenty of space for Faith and her seven bridesmaids.

Faith was stunning.... but I don't have to tell you that!

Loved that Faith and Jared decided to do a First Look!  Here you can see their fun personalities coming through!  They love to laugh with each other... which is a great way to start a marriage!

Jared's reaction to seeing Faith was so heartwarming...

The ceremony was beautiful (I almost started crying when I heard their own written vows), and the time of prayer where everyone prayed over Faith and Jared's marriage was so moving.

Congrats again Faith and Jared!  I felt truly honored to photograph such a special day in your lives!
