First Publication- One Click at a Time

So, a few months ago I posted about shooting a story for Trinity Magazine and wanted to show you how it turned out.  It's amazing to think of the amount of pictures submitted and seeing that only two made it into print... I guess that's just the "biz"!  Yes, one of the pictures happens to be in the index... but hey, I'm counting it!

I can't help but be excited, although I know this is such a small victory.  And, while it may not be much, things like this tend to get me filled with anticipation of the future could hold!  I've got a long way to go, but I'm enjoying this journey one click of the camera at a time....

And yes, I posted two pictures of each... I'm terrible at editing myself and thought maybe a few different angles would make it more interesting.  :)

Thanks for joining me on this road!

Crossroads Academy Open House- An Exciting Future for KC Students!

I was so excited this past Saturday to be able to help out at the open house for Crossroads Academy as a volunteer photographer.  My goal is to be able to give back to the community in some way and because this new charter school in Kansas City is going to be serving the children and parents in the area through such an important avenue; this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

You could sense the excitement at the open house as the students were able to meet their new teachers and parents got a feel for the school.  And, even though renovations have yet to be made, the building at 10th and Central is ideal for sparking imagination with its walls of windows, high ceilings and outdoor garden space.  I'm looking forward to seeing how Crossroads Academy grows and has a positive impact in downtown Kansas City!

A Peak at Spring in Kansas City!

Spring has come early to Kansas City and I know I'm not the only one who's loving this weather!  The 80 degree days have caused me to switch over to my flip flops, which can never happen soon enough, while the warm summer-like breezes and loads of sunshine have brought a sense of energy to March.

I'm currently working on a project for Christ Community's website and have loved getting outside to shoot all over the city.  And, while a large portion of the shoot is architectural, I couldn't help but to stop and photograph the budding signs of spring!

Trinity Magazine Photoshoot

In January I had the opportunity to do a photoshoot for Trinity Magazine, which was really exciting!  They were doing an article on the Fellowship Program that Christ Community developed as a way of mentoring and training Trinity Evangelical Divinity School graduates.  This two year program is a great way for Trinity grads to experience life in ministry as associate pastors and is similar to what a med student would do in their residency.

It was fun trying to capture the various aspects of the Fellowship program and the mentorship that takes place with the executive pastors at Christ Community.  I'm looking forward to seeing the article in print this spring!!

Love Is In The Air- Sneak Peek: Couples Session w/ Josh & Michelle

In honor of their love, Josh and Michelle thought February would be a great time to have a couples photo session in Loose Park.  Being married five years, this energetic couple still seemed like newlyweds and could've warmed anyone's heart even on that chilly day.  It was fun getting to know them and hearing some of their plans for the future... which I'm sure will be filled with lots of laughter and many more kisses along the way!   Take a look!
